Me & Apollo
erreanderreXThomann 18.10.2021
Hello! I'm a music producer and guitarist and this is the love of my life . Of course you need to take one second and think :" is this the investment that I want to ?" This just change your sound from cheap to Professional . I'm not just talking about the amazing pre-amp but you have a good bundle of plugin for a Crazy price . If you are guitarist or bass player trust me this is your brother .
But now I'll tell you one sad point you don't have enough input but they are enough for an home studio . Otherwise I suggest to you to take the one with more inputs and outputs .
Have fun you will never forget it . It's like the first love or the first sex.

Great Interface
AlexxxDanger 30.11.2021
Once you get past the setup (which can be a headache if you're on M1), this interface performs exactly how you would expect.

The sound quality is great, with low noise levels and true sounding output when ignoring the unison preamps. The controls on the hardware are easy to use after the initial learning curve.

The onboard DSPs are super useful for zero latency tracking, you just have to be careful not to max them out. Certain UAD plugins hog the space quite a bit, so I recommend removing any tracking plugins after you're done with them to make room for others when you're mixing.

Overall great product, only con is the initial setup and slight learning curve for the UAD software. UAD plugins themselves are high quality and sound amazing. The included plugins are more than enough to get you started.

Great product if you are a mac owner
Täpiline Kõrv 15.01.2023
Love the zero latency, UAD console and all the plugins. My favourites are the ENGL Savage 120 amp and C-Suite C-VOX. The latter is a great noise suppressor for microphones. Amps sound great. It takes a bit of time to try out all the cab options etc to get the right sound.. But eventually you'll get there. The build quality of the device is superb and it's pretty intuitive to work with those buttons on the device.
On the bad side, Windows drivers just suck. I've had lots of problems with them and eventually just bought a mac. I've got a motherboard with TB3-4 support and everything from getting it to even connect to the PC has been a pain. I managed to get everything working but still got ~3 times a week total freeze of audio drivers & sometimes there were 1s hiccups... I probably messed ~3 months on Windows. I even upgraded to Windows 11 and reinstalled everything. Eventually I gave up and bought a Mac.

Love it! Surprised!
Akmaral 04.06.2022
I was familiar enough with the Universal Audio products through their hardware compressors and preamps. Love it! They are so clever and quality! Then, I blindly decided to try their audio interfaces, and yeap, I didn't regret it at all! For this price, it is one of the better solutions (I switched from Apogee systems). Only minuses - not easy to install with Mac OS system compare to Apogee.
The sound quality is perfect, way better if I compare it with Scarlett, RME, Audio Kontrol, and others in a range of this price even with Apogee (Apogee is great but in their expensive versions). Definitely, this is a great solution to have the best Audio Interface for its price.

Battle tested and brilliant
napoleonm 29.02.2024
The interface has solid build quality. The converters are top notch and the sound quality is also excellent. Personally i don't care that much about DSP since my laptop has more than enought juice, but it is nice to have.

Now to the juice and, most probably the reason you want to get the Apollo, the plugins. There is a wide variety of high quality plugins that cater to a plethora of music genres and different needs. They will not make you a professional, but they will give your sound that extra mile that it needs.

Overall, I am very very satisfied with the Apollo Twin X Duo. I am sure it will serve me for many years to come.

The God of Sound
Andreas Gidske 29.11.2021
The God. This interface is my top dog favorite. There is no other interface for your home studio, even professional studio. Its the industry standard for professional vocalists, aswell as for people playing guitar, etc. No doubt about Universal Audio. There is literally no other company that can compete with UAD´s Plugins, and the fact that you can record with those AAA+ Plugins running thrue Apollos DPS before even entering the DAW? Wow.

Good build quality but it has a lot of flaws
Gaer 28.08.2022
TLDR: It's a good audio interface, but my SSL2, which costs five times less, sounds about the same! I didn't feel any quality difference.

Pros:
- DSP;
- Excellent build quality;
- Free DAW included (LUNA);
- UA plugins;
- Unison preamps (ability to switch input impedance, etc.);

Cons:
- Limited Windows compatibility;
- For the price, Universal Audio should have given us better mic preamps;
- If you need DSP processing, you can use Rogue Ameba Loopback and your favorite VST/AU plugins; No need to pay ~ 1000 euros for the DSP;
- The console app doesn't allow to add more than four plugins to the insert; there is a workaround, but come on: this sound card costs 1000 euros; I don't want to deal with such issues in this price range;
- Why does it have to install a new macOS kernel extension? I don't get it;

Maybe it's just me, but a simple quality USB interface like SSL 2 suits my needs better. Sometimes less is more.

I Need More DSP!
EQNX 15.04.2020
I was using Quad MKII and decide to buy this Thunderbold Duo and of course just problem with not enough DSP for producing or mixing tracks for me if you work not more than 20 channel this will be enough but when projects are getting more channels and you need to use good compressors or effects that DSP will be not enough and UAD plugins just works on DSP power. so im thinking to get satellite already. and also if you need more channel for send and return things externally go for more cause there is just 2 real input in the same time
you will need to buy another ADAT interface to expand it digitally if needed. But at the end of the day im very happy with my purchase you can do really good sound with this card and unison plugins most if you tracking your synth or sounds externally. this one is the best for startup
